This is remedied with the publication of the "Digital Atlas of Indonesian History", which is based on the historical atlas but includes more than 100 new maps plus a huge array of other material. Bundled with an 80-page user guide, the DVD includes nearly 500 maps, each output as low-resolution JPEG images suitable for use in classroom teaching (e.g. using Powerpoint) and as high-resolution colour and B&W PDF files suitable for royalty-free reproduction by scholars in their own publications. In addition, there is a fully interactive website of Indonesian history with maps and text plus scans from the 10th edition of W. van Gelder's 'Schoolatlas van Nederlandsch Oost-IndiA'. The DVD also offers stable internet links to historical maps of Indonesia that are available online. Like its printed predecessor, the 'Digital Atlas' is a monumental work that will prove itself to be an essential resource for scholars and teachers of Indonesian history.
